Lady Sovereign, Lady Saw, and the end of zshare as we know it

yo aimless internet browsers (how did i know? you're looking at blogs), another crazy story:

the movie belly starring nas and DMX had a pretty legit soundtrack. Most notably, it featured a dubbed-out minimalist reggae track by Lady Saw entitled "What a Bum". However, on almost all listings for the soundtrack, "What a Bum" is listed as being performed by Lady Sovereign, the brit-rap diva, not the dub-roots honey-mama Lady Saw.

To highlight the absurdity and magnitude of this error in the soundtrack listing, here's a track by each artist. not even close.

Lady Sovereign - Random

Lady Saw - What a Bum

and, now you dont even have to go to zshare and have songs interrupted by ads and whatnot.

green street puts it on

Yo blogosphere, what it do? crazy story: last summer i ventured to boston (my old home) to meet up with my old crew: green street. These guys have been doing true school, jazzy, savory hip hop since high school and show no signs of slowing up or changing direction.

Anyway, on my return trip to the bean, we got together and did a jam at like 5AM due to the fact that renaissance, the producer, engineer, and creative genius, in short the GZA of the crew had to be on a plane to Europe the next morning. John McClane, fellow beantown emcee and colleague of the green street crew put together the hook, and in a drunken, tired, but meditative state at 5am, we dropped our respective verses on it.

about seven months later, with ren back stateside and back in the lab, the track has been mixed, finished, and oh-so-conveniently embedded right here for you to check.

Green Street ft. John McClane & Wondermaxx - Rose
